Able Coil & Electronics was founded in 1969 in Bolton, Connecticut, by Ken Rockefeller to address a growing demand for high-quality coil winding and assembly services. The company remains under Rockefeller family leadership, with Steven Rockefeller serving as president since 2020, when the business expanded into a new state-of-the-art facility alongside its original location, bringing total manufacturing space to more than 40,000 square feet. The company specializes in custom wire-wound electromagnetic products, including coil assemblies, transformers, encapsulated and toroidal assemblies, fine-wire assemblies, inductors and chokes, cable and connector harnesses, and electro-mechanical assemblies. Its vertically integrated operation covers manual and multi-spindle CNC winding (#4–#56 AWG), automated selective soldering, precision injection over-molding, vacuum pressure impregnation, epoxy and silicone encapsulation, selective conformal coating, and in-house 3D printing and tooling. Testing capabilities include HI-POT up to 20 kV, inductance, capacitance, resistance, impedance, turns ratio, and statistical process control. Annual output reaches millions of components, from prototype to full-scale production. Able Coil serves aerospace and defense (avionics, satellite communications, radar), commercial and industrial, telecommunications, laser, medical (including imaging equipment), and music and audio markets. Customers range from OEMs requiring mission-critical reliability to commercial programs needing high-volume consistency.
