About AMERICAN ELECTRIC EQUIPMENT, INC.
American Electric Equipment, Inc. (AEEI) and its sister division Control Products, Inc. (CPI) have operated from Beckley, West Virginia since 1985. The American‑owned company began with a focus on mining and underground power distribution, growing over four decades into a two‑division operation serving industrial and mining customers across the region. The company designs and builds custom dry‑type transformers, high‑voltage switchgear (including its own ISOVAC 800 15 kV/800 A vacuum breaker and ProVac medium‑voltage breaker), explosion‑proof enclosures, control stations and junction boxes, ground monitors, power centers, substations and mining‑grade plugs and receptacles. It also reconditions Yaskawa SF6 gas circuit breakers (5–15 kV) with factory‑trained technicians, sells and services Kohler standby generators, and runs an OMAX 120X abrasive waterjet with a 26'8″ × 10′ work envelope for cutting steel, stainless, aluminum, titanium, composites, glass and stone. Additional services include on‑site metal fabrication, excavation, construction, demolition, erosion control, site reclamation, and field repair and commissioning. Primary customers are underground and surface mining operations, industrial plants requiring custom power distribution, and commercial/industrial facilities needing standby generation. Examples include ground monitors and fault relays for gassy underground mines, custom power centers for underground mining and surface industrial use, and explosion‑proof control stations for hazardous locations. The company emphasizes its American‑owned roots, deep mining‑sector expertise, and the combination of engineering and manufacturing staff that allows custom equipment to be built to exact specifications. It also highlights its authorized Kohler dealer status and Yaskawa‑trained service technicians as differentiators.
