About Andy Sanchez Furniture
Andy Sanchez Furniture operates from Algodones, New Mexico, where Andy Sanchez and his sons Aaron and Daniel have been crafting original furniture for nearly three decades. The family-owned workshop, run by Andy and his wife Cheryl alongside their seven children, began with a commitment to creating heirloom pieces that honor the natural character of wood. The shop specializes in live-edge furniture that incorporates precious stones, gems, and metals into slabs of black walnut, alligator juniper, eucalyptus, and other exotic species. Rather than imposing a design on the material, the artisans let each log’s grain and form dictate the piece, often employing book-matched cuts sourced from dead-standing trees in the Gila National Forest. Every project is a one-off collaboration: clients exchange photos and measurements with the makers to refine dimensions, stone placement, and overall composition until the piece matches the client’s vision. The clientele consists primarily of residential customers seeking custom tables, chairs, and statement pieces for their homes. Testimonials cite buyers from Pennsylvania and features in New Mexico Magazine, underscoring a reach beyond the local area. The founders’ guiding principle is to work with nature rather than alter it. As Andy Sanchez puts it, the intention is not to change what has been created but to appreciate what is already provided. This philosophy drives the use of fully cured, dead-standing timber and the practice of pairing wood with stones from the same locale, aiming to produce furniture that gains value and sentiment across generations.
