About Bayne's Quality Custom Furniture
Bayne's Quality Custom Furniture, Inc. was established in 1980 in Baltimore, Maryland, by woodworker Donald Bayne. The business began in the basement of his home before moving to a manufacturing warehouse and eventually settling at its current location. The shop produces custom cabinets, furniture, and architectural millwork, including mantels, fireplace surrounds, libraries, built-in cabinets, bars, specialty wall units, kitchen cabinetry, niches, and hand-carved pieces. It also takes on non-standard projects such as staircases, gazebos, and display cases. Work combines traditional cabinetmaking with technical finishing, design support, and installation, carried out by a small team of personally trained staff and a network of skilled artisans. The company serves homeowners, interior designers, and architects across Maryland and surrounding states, handling both residential and commercial commissions. Past projects range from a formal library and a grand staircase to a display case for a prized golf ball and a custom gazebo, illustrating a willingness to tackle varied challenges. Founder Donald Bayne emphasizes personal oversight on every job, stating that nothing leaves the shop unless he is satisfied. The firm's differentiator is its blend of old‑world craftsmanship with a problem‑solving approach, aiming to build "furniture quality" into every piece and to exceed client expectations through direct involvement in design, manufacturing, and finish selection.
