About Biro Manufacturing Co

Biro Manufacturing Co. is based in Lakeside Marblehead, Ohio, and was founded in 1921 by Carl G. Biro Sr., a Hungarian immigrant who had worked as a blacksmith’s son and later ran his own meat market. After recognizing the need for a more practical meat-cutting machine, he sold his market, leased an old church building, and began producing the first Biro power meat, fish, and bone cutter. The company designs, manufactures, and markets a line of power-operated, stainless-steel food and meat processing equipment. Its product range includes power saws, tenderizers and knitters, cubers, strip cutters, horizontal high-speed slicers, manual-feed grinders, auto-feed mixer/grinders, and marinating vacuum tumblers. All machines are built at the company’s Ohio headquarters facility. Biro serves the food retail, food service, and food processing sectors, with a focus on the meat and seafood industries. Its equipment is used in grocery stores, restaurants, and processing plants across the United States and internationally. Biro emphasizes engineering that prioritizes safety and sanitation, and it offers customization to meet specific customer requirements. The company says its machines are designed for longer service life with less downtime, supported by reasonably priced parts and a global network of independently owned, factory-trained distributors.
