About Boise Custom Furniture by Mahogany House Woodworks
Mahogany House Woodworks, operating as Boise Custom Furniture, is based in Nampa, Idaho. The company was founded in 2001 by James Barrett, who brought a background in construction and high-end custom home building to woodworking. Barrett runs the shop full-time while also owning a Boise HVAC repair business. The shop designs and builds custom wood furniture including dining tables, coffee tables, beds, headboards, bookshelves, entryway tables, adjustable desks, workstations, and custom pieces for restaurants. They also produce wood countertops, butcher blocks, cutting boards, and offer furniture engraving. The operation is owner-operated; no facility size or headcount figures are disclosed. Customers range from residential clients in Idaho and surrounding areas to commercial accounts such as restaurants and offices. Projects have included a large bookcase for a home, a bar top for a commercial space, and custom cutting boards for gifts. Barrett emphasizes handcrafted methods and responsible material use as a response to mass-produced furniture. The company positions its work as heirloom-quality pieces built to last generations, with design guidance provided throughout the process.
