About CA Custom Woodworking Inc.

CA Custom Woodworking Inc. operates from a converted barn in Oswego, Illinois, serving the Northern Illinois region. The company traces its roots to founder Chris Ammenhauser, who at age 23 placed a newspaper advertisement for custom bookcases and furniture and quickly filled orders. What began as a solo venture in a family barn has grown into a family-owned and operated shop that has been active for more than a decade. The shop specializes in fine cabinetry, furniture, and custom carpentry. Its capabilities span cabinet design, kitchen and bath cabinetry, closets, media wall cabinets, home and office libraries, mantles, lockers, and built-ins. On the carpentry side, the team handles residential framing, kitchen and bathroom remodeling, basement finishing, recessed wall panels and wainscoting, decks, and pergolas. All work is produced in the renovated barn facility, though the company does not disclose headcount or square footage. The primary customers are residential homeowners and builders in Northern Illinois seeking custom woodwork for new construction, renovations, and heirloom-quality pieces. Projects range from complete kitchen renovations to custom-coffered ceilings and built-in library systems. The company emphasizes a genuine passion for woodworking that it describes as increasingly rare, pledging to stand behind every project whether built in the shop or installed on site. The founding principle was to deliver true quality and one-of-a-kind craftsmanship tailored to each client’s vision.
