About ChefZone
ChefZone opened in 2014 in Honolulu, Hawaii, as the cash-and-carry outlet of Y. Hata & Co., Limited, a long-established local distributor. The wholesale club was launched to give Hawaii’s foodservice operators a single source for thousands of products, leveraging the buying power of its parent company to stock items otherwise unavailable in the islands. The 45,000-square-foot facility carries more than 5,000 SKUs spanning fresh meats, produce, frozen foods, seafood, dairy, groceries, baked goods, Asian and ethnic specialties, restaurant equipment, disposables and cleaning supplies. In addition to the warehouse aisles, ChefZone operates a demonstration kitchen and a catering-concepts showroom where members can test recipes and explore presentation ideas. A “Pick and Pull” service and dedicated sales representatives help customers assemble orders quickly. Regular customers include the L&L Hawaii chain, Waiahole Poi Factory, HICraft Kitchen, Kupu Hawaii (which produces 1,000 meals a day), Fit N Fresh and Pur Sina Hawaii. Membership is free and open to the public. ChefZone differentiates itself through exclusive brands and locally sourced products that cannot be found elsewhere in Hawaii, combined with the logistical reach of Y. Hata & Co. The company emphasizes its locally owned and operated status and the “ohana” (family) culture that extends to staff and members alike.
