Cundiff Steel Fabricators & Erectors Inc. was founded in 1994 by Pat Cundiff in Louisville, Kentucky. The company began as a woman-owned structural steel business at a time when women-owned firms faced significant barriers in the construction trades. With her husband and two sons—all union ironworkers—Pat built a family-run operation that has grown into one of Kentucky’s largest structural steel fabricators. The firm fabricates and erects structural and miscellaneous steel from a 30,000- to 34,000-square-foot facility equipped with a PythonX 7-axis CNC, a PlasMAX HD cutting system, automated beam and angle lines, a temperature-controlled paint booth, multiple overhead cranes, and a fleet of lifts. In-house services include design-build, engineering, estimating, warehousing, and project management. Typical products range from clip angles, columns, and handrails to platforms, stairs, trusses, grating, and beams. Cundiff Steel serves commercial, industrial, and institutional clients across the U.S. and Canada. Project experience includes multi-story office buildings, hospitals and medical complexes, condominiums, renovations, and reinforcing work. The company is a Kentucky Department of Transportation certified SBE and DBE supplier and has shipped projects to New York, Florida, California, and Vancouver, British Columbia. Pat Cundiff started the company to deliver higher-quality structural steel in a male-dominated industry. Cundiff Steel was the first in Kentucky to earn AISC certification and maintains DBE, WBE, and SBE designations. The team averages 15 years of experience, and the firm has logged over one million incident-free hours.
