Electronic Design and Manufacturing (EDM), now operating as Pivot-EDM, Inc., traces its roots to 1979 when Rita Bystrek founded Nebraska Electronics, Inc. in Omaha, Nebraska, as a coil winding and assembly business. By 1989 the company had shifted its focus to printed circuit board assemblies and adopted the Electronic Design and Manufacturing name, adding engineering and design services. A move to a new 50,000-square-foot facility in La Vista, a suburb of Omaha, came in 2004, and in 2017 EDM became part of Pivot International, a global product development and manufacturing network. The La Vista plant provides 50,000 square feet of ESD-protected, temperature- and humidity-controlled production space with 24/7 security monitoring. EDM offers PCB and electromechanical assembly, rapid-turn prototyping, turnkey and box-build solutions, supply-chain management, global sourcing, RoHS and lead-free conversions, rework and modification, engineering and design, service depot support, and encapsulation and coating. The company handles jobs from a single prototype through full turnkey production with direct fulfillment. EDM serves customers in medical device manufacturing, evidenced by its ISO 13485:2016 certification, and in equipment for potentially explosive environments, supported by ISO 80079-34:2018.
