About Factory Motor Parts
Founded in Minneapolis in 1945 as Elliott Auto Supply Co., Inc., Factory Motor Parts (FMP) is a multi-generational, family-owned distributor now headquartered in Eagan, Minnesota. The company adopted the Factory Motor Parts name through its participation in the former Chrysler Mopar distribution network of the 1960s, symbolizing partnerships with Ford, General Motors, and other aftermarket suppliers. From a single location, FMP expanded to over 300 locations across 35 states, with significant growth starting in 1993 when it grew from three to 32 locations in five years, entering markets such as Bismarck, Omaha, Phoenix, and Denver. FMP distributes premium original equipment (OE) and name-brand automotive parts, positioning itself as a total resource for professional automotive repair. Its service portfolio includes dedicated support teams, the FMP Delivers online ordering platform, fleet supply chain solutions with GPS tracking, technical training, and a customer self-service portal. The company also operates specialized programs such as the Professional Brake Program, Battery Programs, a Stocking Program, the FMP Partners Network for independent shops, and the One Stop Parts Source Program. The distributor serves independent service centers, car and truck dealerships, commercial fleets, wholesale distributors, and retailers. Customer testimonials cite shops such as Christian Brothers Automotive, Tilden Car Care Center, and Colorado Tire & Service as users of FMP's parts and programs. FMP's market coverage spans the Midwest, Mountain States, Southwest, Northeast, North Carolina, and the West Coast including Alaska. FMP emphasizes its multi-generational family ownership, unmatched parts availability, knowledgeable staff, and a nationwide warranty as key differentiators. The company states its mission is to be a dynamic, ever-adapting partner that meets and exceeds the unique needs of each customer in the automotive aftermarket.
