Fifield Fabrics operates from Canton, Massachusetts, where Charles W. Fifield founded the company in 1924. A writer and admirer of North Atlantic fishing schooners, Fifield chose the Bluenose and Gertrude L. Thebaud as the company logo and began with a protective flannel for the silver industry. The business remained in the Fifield family until the late 1970s, when vice president Randall Martin purchased it from Richard Fifield; Martin’s son Edwin later joined leadership. In 2022, Todd DerManouelian became the owner. The company manufactures and supplies a range of specialty fabrics, including leatherettes, simulated suedes, velvets, and cotton flannels. Its in-house converting department applies adhesive backing, slits, sheets, and die-cuts stock lines, and also performs contract converting for customers. Fifield maintains large inventory across three warehouses worldwide and operates full-service offices with warehousing and R&D in Hong Kong and Dongguan, China. The catalog now spans more than 20 fabric collections. Fifield serves the silver and jewelry industries with tarnish-preventive cloths, display-box linings, and packaging fabrics; book-binding and menu-cover markets with leather-look and flocked materials; and broader fashion, medical, and industrial sectors.
