About Galesburg Electric/Industrial Supply, Inc..

Galesburg Electric/Industrial Supply, Inc. was founded in 1951 in Galesburg, Illinois, by Hilding and Lucile Johnson. The couple envisioned a business that went beyond simply supplying materials to local residents, contractors, and municipalities, emphasizing standing behind their merchandise and services. The company has remained family-owned since its inception; their son Craig joined eight years later and now serves as CEO and Chairman, while their daughter Barbara helped launch the company's online division. The firm operates as a broad-line distributor of electrical, industrial, HVAC, motor control, lighting, safety, tool, and test equipment products. The company has sold online since 1997, serving customers through a digital platform alongside its physical location. The company explicitly lists energy management among its served industries, and its product range supports construction, manufacturing, and facility maintenance sectors. The founders established the business on principles of product knowledge, common sense, and complete customer satisfaction—a priority that remains central. Long-tenured employees, some with 25-plus years of service, reflect a culture that values employee input and retention.
