About GRK Manufacturing Co
GRK Manufacturing Co. is based in Hamilton, Ohio. The company was formed in May 1988 when Gary R. Kilday and his family incorporated to acquire the assets of the Manual Arts Furniture Company (MAFCO), a business that began in 1915 as the exclusive piano bench supplier for the Baldwin Piano Company of Cincinnati. MAFCO had held that role for nearly five decades before its sudden closure. Today GRK operates a woodworking and sewing facility in Hamilton, a location secured in 1992. The shop produces piano benches, piano covers, and bench cushions, while the woodworking side turns out doors, retail and grocery store fixtures, mirror frames, and components for agricultural tripods. The company also sources and sells imported piano benches and dollies. The sewing division has expanded from a single part‑time seamstress to three full‑time staff, and the woodworking team continues to take on custom projects across multiple product lines. Historical customers include the Baldwin Piano Company and the Nutone Company (mirror frames), along with a North Carolina firm that bought solid oak tables. Current music‑industry clients purchase both domestically made and imported benches and dollies. Diversification into non‑music woodwork allowed the company to survive, and in 2023 former Operations Manager Rob Vicena purchased the assets to continue that trajectory.
