About Guardian Electric Manufacturing Co
Guardian Electric Manufacturing Co. traces its origins to 1932 in Chicago, Illinois, where it was established to supply the nascent aeronautical industry with flight control grips and switches. The business is now a subsidiary of Kelco Industries, a family-owned, American manufacturing group headquartered in Woodstock, Illinois, that consolidated Guardian with three other legacy brands—Flex‑Weld, Western Consolidated Technologies, and Advanced Molding Technologies—under a single operating banner. Guardian specializes in precision‑engineered electromagnetic and motion‑control components, including control grips, switches, relays, solenoids, and coils. Its core capability is precision metal fabrication and component assembly, supporting both prototype and production volumes. The division operates within Kelco’s vertically integrated environment, which adds in‑house engineering, 3D prototyping, CNC machining, and advanced testing labs to take programs from concept through qualified production. The division’s primary markets remain aerospace and defense, where its AS9100‑certified, ITAR‑registered components serve prime contractors and OEMs on aircraft, launch vehicles, and satellite platforms. Through the Kelco portfolio, Guardian‑derived products also reach space & rocketry, energy & power generation, medical & pharmaceutical, and transportation & logistics sectors. Kelco’s ownership model emphasizes personalized service, deep engineering collaboration, and fast decision‑making—principles that extend to each subsidiary. Guardian’s founding focus on flight‑critical hardware continues to drive a culture of accountability and technical responsiveness for mission‑critical applications.
