Intelligent Green Solutions (IGS) was founded in 2011 in Ithaca, New York, by Adam Farrell, who remains CEO. The firm began as a project management specialist for government and commercial solar thermal systems, partnering with SunMaxx Solar to serve U.S. military bases and high-profile clients worldwide. Today IGS operates as a full-service energy contractor across five U.S. locations — Ithaca, Brentwood (TN), Bakersfield (CA), Greenwood (DE) — and an innovation center in Kraków, Poland. The company designs and installs grid-tied and off-grid solar photovoltaic systems with battery storage, solar thermal hot water and space heating, air-source heat pumps from Daikin, Samsung, Mitsubishi and LG, as well as roofing, backup generators and electrical upgrades. Its project portfolio spans residential, agricultural, commercial and industrial clients, including a low-income residential solar hot water program in California’s Central Valley and more than 100 commercial space-heating installations in a Northeast pilot. IGS serves a broad mix of markets: federal and military installations (early work on U.S. bases), agricultural producers across the Eastern Seaboard and California’s Central Valley, commercial and industrial facilities seeking energy cost reduction, and residential customers — including a dedicated low-income program in California. The 2021 Nashville expansion brought off-grid and grid-connected solar with battery backup to homeowners and businesses throughout middle Tennessee. The company was built on a mission to lower energy costs through solar thermal technology, later expanding into solar electric, storage and heat pumps to offer a single-source solution for energy independence and resilience.
