About Maine Heritage Timber
Maine Heritage Timber operates from Millinocket, Maine, where it recovers timber that has lain on the bottom of the Penobscot River for decades. The company was founded to reclaim this submerged forest and bring it back into use, though the exact founding year and founders are not publicly disclosed. The business mills the reclaimed logs into a range of products, including wall paneling, custom residential millwork, and commercial architectural components. It also manufactures a retail line of finished goods such as hardwood paddle boards, cheese boards, serving crates, breakfast trays, reversible carving boards, trivets, and coaster sets, all sold directly through its e‑commerce site. Its customers span residential and commercial construction projects, interior designers, architects, and individual consumers seeking distinctive reclaimed‑wood pieces. Custom work has been supplied for feature walls, cabinetry, and furniture in both private homes and commercial spaces, while the retail collection ships to buyers across the United States. The company’s stated distinction is the unique provenance of its material: wood preserved in cold river water that remains as fresh and workable as the day it was originally cut. This 'forgotten forest' narrative underpins both its custom fabrication services and its branded product line.
