About Metal Doctors
Metal Doctors operates from East Providence, Rhode Island. The shop was founded by Frank, a metalworker with over three decades of experience who learned the trade under his father‑in‑law and later ran an entire metal operation before striking out on his own. Frank handles every project himself, from intake to finish, with no handoffs or additional staff. The business focuses on metal restoration, repair, and custom fabrication. Services include complete body restoration and panel fabrication for rare vehicles, rust repair, period‑correct finishing, and hardware reproduction. The shop works with brass, copper, steel, aluminum, zinc, white metal, pot metal, stainless steel, and cast iron. Welding capabilities cover TIG, MIG, stick, brazing, and soldering, and mobile welding is offered for on‑site repairs. Frank also produces custom architectural elements, railings, gates, bespoke furniture, decorative metal art, specialized tools, and one‑off prototypes. Clients range from museums and private collectors seeking authentic restoration of antique cars and vintage furniture to commercial and residential customers needing custom railings, gates, and architectural fixtures. Frank’s specialization in white metal and pot metal — materials many shops avoid — sets the operation apart. He emphasizes that every piece receives the same care whether it is destined for a museum or a local customer, and the single‑craftsman model ensures continuity from start to finish.
