About Mid State Welding LLC
Mid State Welding LLC operates from Spearfish, South Dakota, where founders Rodney and Brooke Ross launched the family-owned business in 2020. After Rodney spent 13 years welding pipelines across the country, the couple settled in Brooke's hometown and, together with an initial business partner, set out to fill a local need for a reliable welding and fabrication shop. Today the company is run solely by the Ross family, with Rodney fabrication in the shop and field while Brooke manages client relations and project coordination. The shop provides custom metal fabrication and a full range of welding processes—MIG, TIG, and stick—on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Services span structural steel, pipe fencing, entryways, staircases, railings, decks, bridges, and mobile welding that brings the equipment directly to job sites across the Black Hills, western South Dakota, and eastern Wyoming. The crew also handles equipment repair, fence and corral maintenance, and commercial subcontracting, and has completed 135 projects since inception. Mid State Welding serves contractors, builders, commercial and residential property owners, farms and ranches, and state and federal agencies. The Rosses emphasize professionalism, craftsmanship, trustworthiness, quality, and safety as core values, aiming to build lasting relationships along with durable metalwork. The business gained wider recognition when it was featured on the television series Building Outside the Lines, where the team fabricated a custom playhouse with floating stairs and railings.
