About Montana Backwoods Creations
Montana Backwoods Creations operates from a homestead in Roundup, Montana. The business was founded by Shellie, who raises a small flock of Navajo Churro sheep—a threatened breed known for long, coarse, lustrous wool—and transforms their fleece into heirloom rugs. No founding year is published. The company produces custom wool rugs using two traditional techniques: braiding and felting. Output is limited by the flock size and the labor-intensive process; no facility square footage, headcount, or annual volume figures are disclosed. Rugs are sold directly to consumers for residential use, marketed as “Quality Heirloom Wool Rugs” meant to be enjoyed for generations. The website does not list commercial or industrial customers, and no specific B2B sectors are identified. The operation distinguishes itself by sourcing wool from a threatened sheep breed and maintaining a start-to-finish homestead workflow. The founder emphasizes that each piece is a unique expression of Montana style, rooted in the land and the animals.
