The company is owned by a consortium of three area telephone cooperatives—United Telephone Mutual Aid Cooperative of Langdon, Dakota Central Rural Telephone Cooperative of Carrington, and Polar Communications of Park River—giving it a locally rooted ownership structure. NDTC delivers a suite of communications services including unlimited local and long-distance telephone, high-speed internet access, digital television, computer networking and wiring, website hosting, surveillance equipment, and dedicated data circuits. The company serves more than 11,000 customers across northeastern North Dakota with a staff of over 60 local employees who live and work in the communities they serve. Its customer base spans residential subscribers, businesses, and community institutions throughout the region, including towns such as Cando, Fessenden, Harvey, Leeds, McVille, New Rockford, and Tolna. NDTC is also a member-owner of North Dakota Long Distance (NDLD) and Dakota Carrier Network (DCN), which provide statewide long-distance and carrier-grade Ethernet, wavelength, and Wi-Fi services. In 2003, NDTC helped establish North Plains Utility Contracting to handle underground construction for its network and other utilities.
