About Nesson Cable Engineering
Founded in 1981 in Fruitport, Michigan, Nesson Cable Engineering (NCE) has spent over four decades building, upgrading, and maintaining telecommunications systems across the Lower Peninsula. NCE handles both coaxial and fiber-optic networks, providing directional drilling, aerial and underground construction, splicing, and technical activation. The firm uses qualified subcontractors for conduit placement and cable pulling but keeps all splicing and technical work in-house, performed by employees who average 15 years of experience. This model extends to emergency restoration, NJUNS coordination, plant relocations, and ongoing system maintenance. The contractor serves telecommunications providers, municipal governments, road commissions, and the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). Projects routinely involve coordination with cities, businesses, and residents, including traffic control, hard-surface potholing, and remediation of incidental damage to lawns, sidewalks, and sprinkler systems. NCE was founded on the premise that competence comes from retaining experienced staff and making them the last to touch every project. The company emphasizes accountability, permanence, and problem prevention through pre-construction surveying that identifies clearance issues, avoids make-ready costs, and reduces pole denials before they arise.
