About Northwest Lumber Co
Northwest Lumber Company has operated from the same Indianapolis, Indiana location since Harry Greeley and his wife Eva founded the business in 1956. What began as a mom-and-pop hardware store selling construction-grade plywood and lumber transitioned over the decades into a specialty supplier of furniture-grade hardwoods, cabinet-grade plywood, exotic tone-woods for instrument building, and fine woodworking hand tools. The company stocks hardwood lumber graded Selects & Better, along with cabinet-grade plywood and a selection of exotic tone-woods suited for musical instruments, fine cabinetry, furniture, and boat building. It also carries a curated line of fine woodworking hand tools. No facility size, headcount, or annual volume figures are published. Customers include furniture makers, luthiers, cabinet shops, and boat builders seeking high-grade hardwoods and specialty tone-woods. The firm serves both professional woodworkers and hobbyists through its retail showroom, which is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday mornings. The shift from construction materials to fine woodworking supplies was driven by the arrival of big-box retailers in the market. Northwest Lumber Company is a member of the Indiana Hardwood Lumbermen's Association, reflecting a stated commitment to sustainable forest productivity and the production of high-quality hardwood products.
