Phoenix Solar Panel Systems LLC

About Phoenix Solar Panel Systems LLC

Phoenix Solar Panel Systems operates from Phoenix, Arizona, serving the metropolitan area and surrounding communities. The company was founded by Steven Smith, J.D., known as "Solar Steve Esquire," after he worked at several Valley solar companies and observed what he describes as an extreme lack of professionalism, honesty, and customer service in the industry. Smith started the business to provide a transparent alternative in a market he characterizes as having zero regulation and high turnover. The firm does not perform installations itself. Instead, it helps homeowners and businesses explore solar options — grid-tied, off-grid, and battery-backup systems — and connects them with independent installers. Customers contract directly with the installer performing the work. The company also coordinates related services such as home energy audits, attic insulation, duct sealing, EV charger installation, solar water heaters, solar panel cleaning, bird proofing, removal and reinstallation, and solar carport or patio cover projects. It provides educational resources including an Arizona Solar FAQ, cost guides, and a list of questions to ask solar companies. The primary customers are residential property owners in the Phoenix area and commercial property owners seeking to reduce energy costs. The company references work with Arizona Public Service (APS) and Salt River Project (SRP) utility territories. Commercial clients include businesses looking to cut operating expenses and meet clean-energy goals. The service also supports off-grid properties requiring custom battery and backup designs. Smith states the company was created to bring honesty, integrity, and transparency to the solar industry. The model emphasizes educating customers rather than selling, presenting both positives and negatives of solar ownership, and building long-term relationships over short-term commissions. The founder describes the business as being in the "people business, not the solar business," with a goal of cleaning up the residential solar market through fair, informed decision-making.
