About Rural Manufacturing Co.
Rural Manufacturing Co. has been based in Freeman, South Dakota, since 1976, when the company moved from its original site on the Hofer family farm. The business was founded in 1968 by Vernon P. Hofer and Joe Danny Hofer, who began by building hog farrowing crates for their own operation. It remains family owned and operated, with the next generation now involved in daily management. The company manufactures a full line of livestock equipment under its PRO SERIES brand, including portable chute side crowding tubs, alleys, and wheel corrals. Production takes place at the Freeman facility, where the firm also offers custom manufacturing services for other businesses. In addition to its own products, Rural Manufacturing acts as a dealer for more than 30 livestock equipment brands and supplies AG LEADER and OUTBACK GUIDANCE precision GPS systems for tractor guidance, mapping, and precision spraying. Thousands of buyers purchase directly through the Freeman location, the online store, or the FOR-MOST Livestock Equipment dealer network. Rural Manufacturing emphasizes that its team uses the equipment on their own farms, which informs product design and durability. The company also highlights a large in-stock inventory, same pricing online and in store with free shipping on many items, and secure checkout via Square or PayPal.
