About Scenic City Solar
Scenic City Solar operates from Chattanooga, Tennessee, where it was founded by Ray after he returned from installing large-scale solar projects exceeding one megawatt elsewhere. The company describes itself as locally owned and operated, growing from a "van and a man" operation into a multi-million-dollar business with multiple crews working across several states. It has been active for approximately six years and is a member of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce. The firm designs and installs photovoltaic systems for residential, commercial, and agricultural clients, including roof-mounted arrays, ground mounts, solar pergolas, carports, and electric-vehicle charging stations. Its crews handle site assessment, structural preparation, panel mounting, electrical integration, grounding, weatherproofing, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance. Projects range from small off-grid cabins to multi-megawatt commercial installations. Customers include homeowners seeking the 30% federal tax credit, businesses that can offset 75% of costs in the first year through incentives, and agricultural operations eligible for a 25% USDA grant. Ray started the business to remain in Chattanooga with his family while continuing solar work. Scenic City Solar emphasizes environmental impact — noting that a typical household can cut three to four tons of carbon annually — and community involvement, positioning itself as the largest solar installer in the Chattanooga area and a two-time winner of the city's "Best of the Best" award.
