About SOLAR FX
Solar FX is headquartered in Boone, Iowa. The company was founded in 2008 by Gary Lass as a small family-owned business that began by installing solar-powered attic fans and residential solar arrays. In July 2023, Lass sold the business to his children, Jeremy (known as Oly) and Charise Lass; Charise later acquired full ownership while Jeremy remains as a field supervisor and Gary continues as an advisor. Today Solar FX operates as a turnkey solar contractor, providing design, engineering, sales, and installation of photovoltaic (PV) arrays for agricultural, commercial, and utility-scale projects. All installations are carried out by in-house crews using company-owned equipment, and the firm manages the full permitting process, utility interconnection applications, and coordination with local jurisdictions. The customer base spans hog barn operators, livestock farms, commercial facilities, and utility developers throughout the Midwest. Testimonials cite successful projects on agricultural sites such as a hog barn and a private acreage, as well as commercial installations. Solar FX says its competitive pricing stems from buying panels directly from the importer of record, supplying only Tier One modules listed on the Bloomberg tier list, and remaining brand-agnostic to select the optimal panels, inverters, and racking for each custom-designed system.
