About Solar Power & Light, LLC.

Solar Power & Light, LLC (SP&L) was founded in 2010 in Miamisburg, Ohio, as a spin-off of the Inc. 5000-recognized parent company buyCASTINGS.com, whose management team had operated in the Ohio market since 2000. The company was established by Neil Chaudhry (CEO) and Greg Akers (Business Development Executive) to pioneer Power Purchase Agreements for municipal clients, winning the City of Cincinnati’s inaugural solar RFP in 2012. SP&L delivers full-spectrum solar services: development (site assessment, PPA contracting, land acquisition, utility interconnection), engineering-procurement-construction (EPC) through SP&L Solar Installers, LLC, asset management (performance analytics, O&M, SREC brokerage), residential solar and consumer services (installation, battery storage, backup generators, financing), and a $300M+ funding engine (SP&L Money Solutions) plus $15M+ in federal and state R&D grants. To date, the firm has originated over 200 MW of PPA contracts, constructed more than 11 MW for public entities, and manages 14+ MW across 29 sites in Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Minnesota. The company serves commercial, industrial, educational, municipal, agricultural, nonprofit, and residential customers. Reference projects include a 500 kW installation for the City of Cincinnati, 55 kW and 80 kW systems for Wangler Ace Hardware and Ace Hardware in Greenville, a 99.5 kW array for Billenstein Family Farm, a PPA for the City of Franklin’s water treatment plant, and a $1.5 million project for Ansonia Local Schools delivering over $50,000 in annual savings. SP&L differentiates itself through its proprietary Integrated Development Teaming™ (IDT) methodology launched in 2012, distributed inverter architecture for superior low-light harvesting, automated wire-harness manufacturing adapted from automotive production, and early adoption of 1,000-volt DC design to lower balance-of-system costs. As a federal contractor leveraging shared affiliate infrastructure, the firm emphasizes enduring value, innovative technology, and efficient solutions that reduce levelized cost of energy for investors and host sites.
