About Southwestern Wire
Southwestern Wire is headquartered in Norman, Oklahoma, and traces its origins to March 1992 when Max Moore and Steve Peters acquired the machinery and equipment of Acme Fence and Iron from the Bank of Oklahoma. The founders spent the first year rebuilding and modernizing the plant, installing a state‑of‑the‑art wire galvanizing line that enabled heavier zinc coatings up to 1.2 oz./sq. ft. and positioned the company to compete with larger domestic and foreign wire manufacturers. The company manufactures a broad range of wire and fence products: galvanized and vinyl‑coated chain link fence fabric (including preslatted and security mini‑mesh up to 20 ft tall), fabricated panel products such as residential bent‑frame gates, dog kennels and temporary fence panels, agricultural wire (vineyard, trellis, high‑tensile and electric fence wire), industrial low‑ and high‑carbon wire (C1006–C1026 and 1027–1065), recycling wire (single‑loop bale ties in black annealed and galvanized finishes), and galvanized tension bars, truss rods, drop rods and gate rods. Southwestern Wire owns and operates three manufacturing facilities in the United States — Norman, OK; Birmingham, AL; and Sacramento, CA — with a major 30,000 sq. ft. expansion added in 1998. Primary customers are expert distributors in each product category. The company serves the chain link fence industry, industrial wire users, recycling and baling operations, high‑carbon wire markets, agricultural sectors (vineyards, cattle grazing), and security/prison construction where its mini‑mesh products are specified. Southwestern Wire emphasizes domestic production — "products melted and manufactured in the United States of America" — and points to its 1993 establishment of the only mass‑production galvanized tension bar facility in the U.S. as a key differentiator. The ability to apply Class 5 galvanizing (2 oz./sq. ft.) meeting ASTM A392 Class 2, along with ongoing investments in technology and employee development, underpins its "Made In The USA" positioning.
