Steel and Wire Products Co. was founded in 1929 by Conrad Buedel in downtown Baltimore, Maryland. Conrad's son, J. Conrad Buedel, joined in 1956 and relocated the company to a larger facility outside the city in the early 1970s. A third generation entered in the late 1970s when Mark Buedel started his career; he now serves as president, joined by his sons Reid and Scott in 2009 and later, continuing the family legacy. Today the company operates as a wholesale distributor from two distribution centers — a Maryland facility in Baltimore (Rosedale) and a Connecticut warehouse in Dayville. The product line has expanded from nails to include screws, collated nails, metal connectors, caulks, sealants, adhesives, and polyethylene sheeting. Steel and Wire also develops its own Bullseye® brand of fasteners. The sales organization comprises more than 25 field representatives and 10 inside salespeople, supported by a workforce that includes employees with tenures of 10 to 40 years. The distributor serves retail lumberyards, building-supply houses, and professional contractors across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, with market reach extending west and south. Customers include residential and commercial builders, carpenters, and specialty trade contractors who rely on the company's broad inventory of branded and private-label fastening and sealing products. Steel and Wire emphasizes a "Quality – Progress – Service" philosophy inherited from its founding.
