About Sterling Furniture Co
Sterling Furniture Company has operated in Salt Lake City, Utah, since 1875, when master cabinet maker Hans Madsen opened a store on Main Street. The business remains family-owned, now directed by seventh-generation descendants of Madsen, and its flagship location has anchored the Sugar House neighborhood since 1941. The company retails home furnishings across living room, bedroom, dining room, and office categories, offering customers the ability to customize fabric selections on special orders at no extra charge. It maintains three display floors at its Sugar House showroom and provides delivery throughout the Salt Lake Valley. Its inventory emphasizes hardwood construction and traditional joinery, with a focus on accessible pricing and flexible payment terms that echo the founder's original installment approach. The Madsen family frames its differentiation around generational expertise in selecting durable materials and time-honored construction methods, positioning the store as a source for furniture intended to last across generations rather than follow short-lived trends.
