About Sticks, Inc.
Sticks, Inc. was founded in 1992 in West Des Moines, Iowa. The company began as a studio creating one-of-a-kind handmade art and furniture, with each piece drawn, wood-burned, and painted by artisan hands. Today Sticks operates a production studio in Des Moines where it manufactures a wide range of home furnishings and accessories, including sculptures, wall plaques, lamps, lazy Susans, furniture such as tables, chairs, beds, and case goods, as well as holiday ornaments and custom heirloom pieces. The process remains entirely handcrafted: designs are hand-drawn, wood-burned, and hand-painted. The company also runs the Sticks Gallery in Des Moines’ Historic East Village, a retail destination opened in 2002 that carries the full Sticks line alongside work from over 150 other American makers. Sticks serves both direct consumers and the trade. Collections span bedroom, dining, entryway, kitchen, living room, and office categories, with themed lines such as Americana, Lake, Mountain, Wine, and Wedding/Anniversary. The company’s stated distinction is its commitment to storytelling through art: every piece is created from start to finish by artisans in the Des Moines studio, and the custom program lets customers commission furniture and accessories inspired by personal stories, places, or family history. This emphasis on narrative-driven, American-made craftsmanship has defined the brand since its inception.
