About Sunlight Solar Energy, Inc.
Sunlight Solar Energy, Inc. is based in Bend, Oregon, and has been installing grid-tied solar electric systems across Central Oregon since approximately 2000. The company was founded by Paul Israel, who began his solar career in the late 1980s and launched a solar contracting business in Redmond in the late 1990s before moving operations to Bend. Israel was among the first licensed Renewable Energy Technicians in Oregon, and Sunlight Solar became the third Solar Trade Ally designated by the Energy Trust of Oregon. The firm provides turn-key solar services including system design, permitting, installation, inspection, and utility interconnection for residential and commercial customers. Its in-house crews also install battery storage systems such as Tesla Powerwall, EV chargers, and smart electrical panels from Span and Eaton. The company maintains a dedicated service department for long-term maintenance and operates across Central Oregon communities including Bend, Redmond, Sisters, and surrounding areas. Customers range from homeowners and small businesses to municipal clients and affordable-housing developers. Notable projects include a 200.6 kW installation for Central Electric Cooperative, a 35 kW system for the Bend Centennial Parking Plaza, solar for the Oregon Department of Veteran Affairs, and partnerships with Central Oregon Habitat for Humanity, Rooted Homes, and Thistle and Nest. The team also handles commercial installations for clients such as Worthy Brewing and CiEs Inc. Sunlight Solar emphasizes its local roots as a differentiator, stating that deep knowledge of regional permitting, utility requirements, and climate conditions allows it to build systems that perform reliably over decades. The company highlights honest quoting, clear communication, and customer education as core values, with the same personnel managing projects from initial design through ongoing service.
