Terhorst Manufacturing has operated from Minot, North Dakota since 1926, when three Terhorst brothers — Willis, a mechanical engineer, and Harvey, an electrical engineer, along with a third sibling — arrived from Wisconsin with their physician father to establish a machine shop building wind-generated power plants of their own design. The windmill venture faded as rural electrification spread west after World War II, and by the early 1960s the company pivoted to plastic injection molding. Today it runs a molding department with 24 machines, offering plastic injection molding, insert molding, and in-house mold design and tooling using mechanical and optical inspection equipment.
