Thermo Plastics Corporation was founded in 1958 in Fort Worth, Texas, by John "Hart" Boyer and his wife, known as "Mrs. B" Boyer. The privately owned, family-operated business began in a building behind their house after a California company approached Hart with an idea for a plastic ring that became the hula hoop. Though the fad faded quickly, the single extruder acquired for that project launched the company into custom profile extrusion. Today TPC runs a fully integrated extrusion operation with 18 extruders, including three co-extruders, and an in-house tool room equipped with CNC and EDM wire-cutting machines. The company serves window and door manufacturers, POP display firms, aerospace, boating, military, oil and gas, electronics, lighting, and construction sectors. TPC emphasizes its family-owned structure as a differentiator, citing no bureaucratic red tape, faster lead times from in-house tooling, and a quality program that monitors customer-set tolerances.
