About 731 Woodworks
731 Woodworks is based in Monticello, Arkansas, and operates as 731 LLC, owned by Matt and Amy Outlaw. The venture began in February 2017 when Matt, then an Arkansas State Trooper with a construction background, watched a YouTube video by Jay Bates and built a set of patio chairs that sold the next day. By May 2017 he had launched the 731 Woodworks YouTube channel, and in May 2021 he left law enforcement to run the business full time. The name references July 31, 1999, the day the couple met, and the anchor in their logo reflects a personal faith reference. The company produces daily woodworking and tool‑focused content for a YouTube audience of over 930,000 subscribers, with more than 2,000 videos published. It monetizes through affiliate partnerships with retailers such as Amazon, Lowe’s, Home Depot, Rockler, and Acme Tools, and sells digital products — CNC and 3D‑print files, SVG/C2D plans, and step‑by‑step project bundles — delivered as instant downloads. A coaching program called Sawdust Startups serves a community of 500+ members with weekly live calls, templates, and a marketing playbook. The primary audience is hobbyist and small‑shop woodworkers seeking tool buying guidance, project plans, and business coaching. Customers include beginners looking for free or low‑cost plans, experienced makers wanting curated tool deals, and aspiring side‑hustle builders who join the paid coaching tier. Industries served span woodworking education, digital product sales, affiliate marketing, and online community building. The Outlaws position the brand on transparency and practical experience: Matt tests tools himself so viewers can avoid costly mistakes, and the coaching program is built on his own path from garage shop to full‑time creator. The faith‑inspired anchor logo and the origin story tied to their wedding date are cited as core differentiators.
