The company was founded in 1987 by Michael and Glorianna Terrell, who began in a small shop near their home before building the current plant in the early 1990s. It remains a family-owned small business, with Michael Terrell still running the tool and die shop after more than 40 years in the plastics industry. The shop runs 13 injection molding machines ranging from 20 to 300 tons of clamp force, six of which are vertical presses dedicated to insert molding. Annual insert-molded output exceeds two million components, including hubs on cannulae, obturators, plastic tubing, and steel pins. An in-house tool and die shop builds and maintains the majority of the tooling on the floor, enabling on-site repairs with short lead times. The company also recycles heavily, reusing over 6,000 pounds of ABS scrap each year and processing more than 84,000 pounds of recycled polystyrene and polyethylene in 2018 alone. The customer base is concentrated in the medical, dental, and veterinary markets, sectors that demand stringent quality control, full process control, and traceability throughout manufacturing. Acue-Tex's staff of 14 — from machine operators to office personnel — supports projects from new tool builds to refurbishment of existing programs. The Terrells attribute the company's longevity to honesty, transparency, and a personal commitment to getting things right. In-house tooling capability and a focus on recycled materials further distinguish the operation.
