About Alaska Commercial Electronics, LLC
Alaska Commercial Electronics (ACE) has operated from Petersburg, Alaska since its founding in 1986 by Jerry Whitethorn and Richard Tamblin. The partners built a dedicated facility in 1994 that remains the company's base. In 2017, ownership transferred to Eric and Adele Rosvold as the founders transitioned to retirement, with technicians Megan O'Neil and Cynthia Benitz joining to continue the service legacy. ACE sells, services, and installs marine electronics from brands including Nobeltec/TimeZero, Furuno, Icom, Morad, Simrad, and Comnav. The company also provides marine electrical services such as AC/DC installation, panel replacement, and vessel alarm systems. Historically, ACE designed industrial control systems for water treatment, power, and sewer treatment plants, built a solar-powered mountain-top radio repeater for wireless remote control of a hydro-electric plant, and in 1994 produced the Watch Clock, a microprocessor-based vessel watch alarm still in service decades later. The primary customer base is Southeast Alaska's commercial fishing fleet, which operates from California to the Aleutian Islands. ACE also serves onshore industrial clients, including municipal water and wastewater utilities, power generation facilities, and remote telecommunications sites. The company emphasizes that reliable equipment and timely repair are critical during short fishing openings and hostile conditions. Its guiding principles are captured in the statements "Serving our customers is our number one priority" and "We service what we sell," with professional installation offered in Alaska or anywhere on the West Coast.
