About Bauman Custom Woodworking
Bauman Custom Woodworking is based in Salem, Ohio, and was founded in 1995 by Stuart Bauman. Bauman began woodworking as a hobby, building pieces for friends and neighbors before transitioning to full-time work in 1994 and establishing the company a year later. The shop has served residential clients across Northeast Ohio for nearly three decades. The company produces custom cabinetry for kitchens, bathrooms, and bespoke furniture. Cabinets are built with solid-wood face frames and veneer-core plywood, while doors and drawers use solid lumber. The workflow covers design—using computer-generated 3D renderings—fabrication, finishing, and on-site installation. All work is performed in-house by a team of craftsmen, though the facility size and headcount are not disclosed. Bauman’s primary customers are homeowners undertaking remodels or new construction, along with general contractors and subcontractors who coordinate kitchen and bath projects. Testimonials reference collaboration with firms such as Creative Construction & Design for demolition and installation and Youngstown Granite & Quartz for countertop fabrication. The business focuses on the residential construction and interior-design sectors in the Northeast Ohio region. Bauman emphasizes a handcrafted approach, meaning every project is built by its own crew rather than outsourced. The company positions itself as an alternative to factory-standard cabinetry, offering unlimited customization and guiding clients through the design process with 3D visual aids. The founder cites a desire to use his talents to benefit clients and glorify God as the motivating purpose behind the business.
