About Brush Factory
Brush Factory was established in 2009 by industrial designer Hayes Shanesy and fashion designer Rosie Kovacs in Cincinnati, Ohio. The pair began with multidisciplinary experimentation, blending woodworking and sewn goods before focusing on custom furniture. In 2011 they opened a year‑long pop‑up design store, and by 2014 the growing demand for commercial and residential pieces prompted a move to a larger workshop equipped with professional machinery. The studio designs and handcrafts custom wood furniture and case goods, including cabinets, tables, benches, and fixtures for commercial, retail, and residential clients. A made‑to‑measure line called bff (Brush Factory Furniture) offers standardized yet adaptable pieces such as credenzas and extension dining tables. Production takes place in their Cincinnati workshop, where they emphasize natural materials and contemporary aesthetics. Brush Factory serves restaurants, offices, boutiques, and private residences across the commercial, retail, and home‑office sectors. The company collaborates with local artists, designers, and contractors to deliver site‑specific solutions. Founded on the principle of honest materials and superior craftsmanship, Brush Factory differentiates itself by supporting local suppliers and maintaining a hands‑on, design‑driven approach. The founders’ backgrounds in industrial and fashion design inform a process that values simplicity, durability, and connection to the surrounding community.
