Boulder Furniture Arts

About Boulder Furniture Arts

Boulder Furniture Arts, founded in 1985, operates from Boulder, Colorado. The company has built a reputation over nearly four decades as a fine furniture design-and-build studio. The firm produces two primary lines: BFA Classic, a collection of time-honored designs largely unchanged since its inception, and BFA Create, a custom arm that develops one-off pieces, live-edge slabs, built-ins, and full installations. Work flows through an in-house process that includes concept development, CAD drawings and renderings, fabrication under a one-person-one-piece model, hand-rubbed oil finishing, and custom finish matching. The shop also offers commercial-grade options, built-and-brought delivery, full-service installation, and a lifetime guarantee backed by repair, refinishing, and disassembly services. Clients range from architects who value precision to the 64th of an inch, interior designers seeking seamless collaboration, and residential customers furnishing homes with locally sourced hardwoods. The company also serves commercial leaders, artists, and environmentally conscious buyers who track carbon storage in their furnishings. Boulder Furniture Arts distinguishes itself by sourcing all materials within a two-day drive of its shop, maintaining a ten-year apprenticeship program, and avoiding surplus inventory. The company describes itself as an old-school working art house run by people who give a damn, emphasizing analog modern design and playful restraint.
