About Central Cable Contractors Inc
Central Cable Contractors, Inc. was founded in 1974 in Waupun, Wisconsin. The company began as a cable plowing operation and has grown from a handful of employees to an industry leader with over 185 employees. The firm provides underground construction services for telecommunications and broadband networks, including cable plowing, directional boring, fiber optic cable jetting, trenching, splicing, cable locating, drop installation, and hydro excavation. Its fleet comprises more than 35 cable plows (ranging from rubber-track drop plows to a 60,000-pound Caterpillar track machine), 50 directional boring machines, 75 pieces of trenching equipment, 25 large hydro excavation trucks, and 12 custom-built mini trailer vac systems. Crews handle projects from single-day drops to installations exceeding 300 miles of cable plowing and 1,500-foot directional bores. Central Cable serves the telecommunications, broadband, and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) sectors. Notable projects include a 48-mile fiber network for South Slope Cooperative Communications in Iowa and an 89-mile rural FTTH build for CTC Technology connecting 270 homes. The company also works with providers such as Comm 1, delivering turnkey construction from conduit placement through splicing and testing. The company states its mission is to relentlessly pursue industry leadership in quality and production while keeping customer relationships as the top priority. It emphasizes a safe, family-oriented work environment and points to its experienced cable locators (15+ years average) and in-house engineered hydro excavation trailers as key differentiators.
