About Daktronics
Founded in 1968 and headquartered in New York, New York, Daktronics began as a U.S.-based manufacturer of electronic display systems. The company established its primary production campus in Brookings, South Dakota, where Building 1 provides 14,000 square feet of manufacturing space. Daktronics designs and manufactures LED video displays, audiovisual systems, scoreboards, message centers, sound systems, and control solutions for a range of environments. The company operates an in-house testing facility that evaluates image quality, brightness, and component durability beyond standard compliance. Production capacity has been doubled to meet increased demand, and the firm offers creative services, lab services, and out-of-home advertising support alongside its hardware manufacturing. The company serves sports venues, business and community spaces, out-of-home advertising networks, and transportation agencies. Notable installations include video displays at the University of Illinois, Haughton High School’s Prescott Field, Plum Senior High School, and digital billboards for advertisers such as Dairy Queen, Burger King, and Orange Barrel Media. Transportation clients include the South Dakota Department of Transportation, El Paso International Airport, and the Texas Department of Transportation. Daktronics emphasizes long-term reliability and service accessibility. Its billboards feature both front and rear service access to reduce on-site repair time, and the company claims installations can be completed in hours rather than days. A worldwide network of trained technicians provides support with a standard response time of less than four hours, and parts are supported for up to 12 years.
