About Dapwood Furniture Co.
Dapwood Furniture Co. was founded in 1985 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The company operates as a Certified B Corporation and holds New Mexico True certification, reflecting its commitment to social and environmental standards. The workshop produces solid wood platform bed frames, tables, nightstands, and other bedroom furniture. Each piece is handcrafted from U.S.-grown walnut, cherry, hard maple, and oak, using traditional joinery—cutting, planing, routing, drilling, and fitting—without automated equipment. Products are made to order, offering over 21 million design combinations, and can be left unfinished or finished with natural oils and plant-based stains free of heavy metals and petrochemicals. The facility runs on renewable energy and recycles waste, earning the New Mexico Small Business Recycler Award and a Silver Level Green Zia award. Dapwood’s primary wholesale customers are organic and natural mattress stores across the United States and Canada. The company also sells directly to consumers in urban markets such as Denver, New York, Portland, Seattle, and Washington, D.C., positioning its furniture as a healthy complement to organic mattresses. The business was built on a philosophy of avoiding imported composite furniture that relies on adhesives, fumigation, and toxic finishes. By using only solid wood, non-toxic finishes, and American labor, Dapwood aims to provide durable, repairable products that keep chemicals out of the bedroom and reduce landfill waste, backed by a 10-year warranty and replaceable parts.
