About Design Distillery
Design Distillery operates a modern furniture showroom and design studio in Baltimore, Maryland. The company was founded in 1998 by Karen Graveline, who began with a search for vintage modern furniture to furnish her Baltimore rowhome. That pursuit evolved from a small storefront on Charles Street into a 9,000-square-foot showroom near the Inner Harbor. The firm curates collections from international brands such as Eilersen, Ethnicraft, Trica Furniture, Calligaris, Thayer Coggin, and American Leather. Beyond retail, Design Distillery provides interior design services, including space planning, furniture specification, and custom piece development. The showroom serves as a collaborative environment where clients and fellow designers can test furniture and explore materials. The client base spans residential homeowners and commercial projects, with the team drawing on Graveline’s background in commercial interior design and marketing. Designers Erin Friedel and Graveline work directly with clients and trade professionals to create tailored interiors. Graveline credits her architect father for instilling an appreciation for design’s impact on daily life. The company’s stated mission is to offer quality in everything it does, from supplier selection to design execution, driven by a passion for crafting original interiors.
