Encore Renewable Energy

About Encore Renewable Energy

Encore Renewable Energy is based in Burlington, Vermont. Founded as a brownfield redevelopment company, it has evolved into a full-service community-scale renewable energy project developer and operator. The company is a certified B Corporation and a portfolio company of SUSI Partners. The firm develops, owns, and operates solar and energy storage projects, offering end-to-end services from concept through construction to long-term ownership. It specializes in reclaiming undervalued sites—landfills, brownfields, rooftops, and parking lots—and integrates dual-use approaches such as pollinator-friendly ground cover and solar grazing. Encore ranks as the #1 solar developer in Vermont and among the top 25 nationwide, with projects across the Northeast and a growing portfolio in Illinois. Its customers include municipalities, businesses, institutions, utilities, non-profits, and landowners. Concrete examples include a 2.25‑megawatt landfill solar array for the Town of Derry, New Hampshire, projected to save $4 million over 25 years, and a multi‑project community solar portfolio under construction in Bureau, Henry, and Macoupin Counties, Illinois, which will maintain agricultural use through sheep grazing. Encore’s differentiation rests on its B Corp certification, which embeds social and environmental performance into its legal structure, and its core values of integrity, determination, innovation, humility, curiosity, and impact. The company was started to turn brownfields into “brightfields,” leveraging clean energy to revitalize communities and address the climate crisis.
