About First Solar Louisiana
The parent company traces its origins to the Midwest and now directs global operations from the Southwest, shipping solar modules worldwide while emphasizing domestic production and job creation. The facility produces the company's Series 6 and Series 7 thin-film photovoltaic modules, which are built on a proprietary cadmium telluride (CdTe) semiconductor process. In addition to module manufacturing, the operation supports a full ecosystem that includes recycling services, post-sales support, and mounting hardware featuring the SpeedSlot system designed to reduce installation time and hardware costs. The Series 7 TR1 line is marketed as "Made in America, for America," indicating a focus on domestic content requirements and U.S. energy projects. First Solar differentiates itself through its CdTe thin-film technology, which it says yields a lower carbon footprint, lower water footprint, and faster energy payback than conventional crystalline silicon panels. The company warrants an annual degradation rate of 0.3 percent and offers what it describes as the industry's only cell-cracking warranty, positioning its product as a lower-risk, higher-lifetime-energy option.
