About Florida MicroElectronics
Forte Micro operates from a 60,000-square-foot facility in West Palm Beach, Florida. The site traces its roots to 1981 when Nortel Networks opened a hybrid microcircuits plant there. In 2005, a group of six managers—including Anthony “Tony” Byk and Amy Ferreira—acquired the operation and launched Florida MicroElectronics. AIAC acquired the company in 2020, and it was rebranded as Forte Micro in 2021. The company provides full-service electronics manufacturing, spanning design, PCB assembly (SMT and through-hole), thick-film hybrid substrates on alumina or aluminum nitride, systems integration, precision machining, and special processes such as wire bonding, vacuum reflow, laser trimming, CNC machining, and 3D printing. Four automated SMT lines and two print-and-dry islands support volumes that have reached over 16,000 units per week for automotive sensor circuits. Customers come from aerospace and defense, automotive, commercial and industrial, consumer, and medical device sectors. Concrete programs include custom thin-film attenuators qualified for U.S. defense projects (in volume production since 2018), sensor circuit assemblies for automotive applications, library media kiosks for DVD dispensing, and power supplies for the Panavia Tornado ADV interceptor and nuclear-hardened applications. Forte Micro emphasizes its ability to deliver integrated, end-to-end solutions even for small-scale projects, combining in-house engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and custom test development under one roof. The rebrand to Forte Micro reflected a renewed focus on “Made in USA” manufacturing.
