About Greenwich Wood Products
Greenwich Wood Products, based in Jamestown, Rhode Island, was founded in 2002 by Michael Hendershot. Fresh out of the University of Rhode Island, Hendershot grew up on a horse farm in Exeter and had long been drawn to woodworking, agriculture, and forestry. After studying furniture making with acclaimed furniture makers, boat builders, and RISD graduates, he launched his own line of specialty architectural wood products in 2003, identifying an unfilled niche in the New England market. The company produces custom architectural millwork, architectural fences, garden structures, and landscaping features. Its services also include architectural drawings and printing, exterior products, garden and agricultural structures, and a moulding resource center for custom profiles. The workshop handles projects ranging from residential fences to agricultural implementations on farms across Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Greenwich Wood Products serves landscape architects, such as Charlie Page, RLA, LEED AP, as well as farms, livestock owners, and large-garden enthusiasts throughout New England. The firm’s agricultural focus extends to backyard garden spaces and farm infrastructure, reflecting Hendershot’s belief in the importance of the agricultural sector. Hendershot cites Benjamin Franklin’s view of agriculture as “the only honest way” to acquire wealth as a guiding mantra. The company was started to create aesthetically pleasing and functional products in wood and other materials, with an emphasis on supporting New England’s agricultural community.
