About Hawkins Furniture Co
Hawkins Furniture Co. operates from a woodshop and showroom at 1811 Avenue G in Rosenberg, Texas. The company was founded more than 20 years ago by W.T. Hawkins, a former auto mechanic who turned to woodworking after the death of his father. The shop produces hand-built rustic furniture for every room—bedroom, dining, living room, office—as well as mantels, farmhouse tables, and live-edge pieces. Each item is crafted using traditional woodworking techniques; Hawkins personally selects lumber from Texas sawmills and reclaimed sources such as old dance halls, bowling alleys, and demolished warehouses. The finishing process uses Danish oil with an amber tint followed by a water-based polyurethane coat. The facility operates by appointment only, with a showroom open Tuesday through Saturday. Customers range from homeowners furnishing houses, cabins, and lofts to commercial clients outfitting offices. The company also collaborates on custom commissions and restores family heirlooms. Hawkins distinguishes the business by controlling every step: he hand-picks each board for grain and character, touches every piece during construction, and adjusts dimensions by fractions of an inch for comfort and aesthetics. The use of Texas-sourced woods—pecan, mesquite, longleaf pine, hickory, black walnut, and others—ties each piece to the region’s history.
